Now Android 4.4 KitKat is Running on 2.5 Percent Devices

Google has released its monthly Android distribution numbers, and according to the latest figures, Android 4.4 KitKat is now running on 2.5 percent of the devices, up from 1.8 percent in February.As far as the overall distribution is concerned, over 80 percent of the Android devices are running

Android 4.x operating system, with Gingerbread finally going under 20 percent, 19 percent to be exact.It’s good to see that OEMs are working on getting the latest Android 4.4 KitKat on their flagship devices. Most of them are the Nexus and GPE devices, but other OEMs have also released the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their flagship handsets.

 Motorola has done a commendable job with the updates for Moto G and Moto X, so has HTC with its last year’s flagship in most regions. Other OEMs have started rolling out the latest update as well, but there’s no word about its arrival in different regions.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean also saw an increase in its share and is now running on 9.6 percent of the device, a slight increase from 8.9 percent last month. Overall Android Jelly Bean saw an increase, with the numbers falling slightly for Android 4.1.x.

Additionally, Gingerbread saw its share decline to 19 percent, it was 20 percent last month. Details about the devices running operating system older than Android 2.2 are not included in the figures.
