Lenovo has revealed that Ashton Kutcher is not working on new smartphones.
This follows reports that the actor was expanding his design job at the
manufacturer from tablets to smartphones. Well, a Lenovo executive has
clarified that Kutcher’s work is still focused on just tablets,
indicating that
comments from another executive were misquoted.
Things have been a bit confusing. Here’s why.
The first report heard from Chief Marketing Officer David Roman that Kutcher
was working on the user experience of the smartphones, but not the circuitry,
with the devices forming part of a special-edition phone line launching later
this year.
Then Director of External Communication Ray Gorman told Pocket-Lint
that “the development agreement Lenovo has with Ashton Kutcher is for tablets
only, and not for smartphones.”
Well, now that is all cleared up. Kutcher’s work with Lenovo involves the
co-design and promotion of Android tablets, including the 18-hour Yoga Tablet.
Talking about Kutcher’s work, Roman
commented earlier that “He not only sees
himself as an engineer, but he is an engineer. If he sees a problem, he wants
to solve it.” So it sounds like he is a real asset to the company.
